Easy-to-use breath alcohol devices
Breath test devices (breathalysers) are used to measure the alcohol concentration in a person’s breath.
As such, they measure current alcohol consumption. They do not measure historical use of alcohol. This means that this method of testing can be used to prove sobriety as and when needed.
The compact shape of the devices makes them particularly easy to hold, and they can be controlled with one hand.
The person being tested for alcohol use blows into a disposable mouthpiece attached to the breath alcohol device. They are advised not to take anything by mouth in the 20 minutes prior to breath sampling.
The results are given as a digital readout, known as the breath alcohol concentration (BAC), which shows the level of alcohol in the breath at the time the test was taken. A second reading is only taken if the first reading is greater than zero.

The compact breath alcohol test device is used by police for roadside drink-driving checks, and by social workers for point-of-care testing when evaluating child protection issues.
Breath alcohol tests are also routinely used as part of scheduled workplace tests, at short notice for random alcohol testing or in the case of ‘for cause’ testing.

AlphaBiolabs provides breath alcohol testing for members of the public, social workers, employers, family law firms, legal practitioners, courts, and local authorities.
We have a national network of fully trained sample collectors available to collect samples from an address of your choice, including the workplace.
Alternatively, you can arrange for your samples to be collected at one of our walk-in centres. Sample collection is FREE at our walk-in centres for legally-instructed tests.
Breath alcohol testing is particularly suited to workplace testing because it offers rapid alcohol testing with immediate results.
