How does the pregnancy calculator work?

Unless you’ve undergone fertility treatment or have tracked your ovulation, it’s difficult to know exactly when you conceived. Most women ovulate about 2 weeks after the first day of their period, and conceive shortly afterwards. Our pregnancy calculator estimates your due date based on the date of your last period.

The average pregnancy lasts between 37 and 42 weeks. It’s impossible to say for sure exactly when your baby will arrive. Only about 4% of babies are born on their due date. However, it is likely that your baby will arrive in the few weeks either side of your estimated due date. Knowing this can help you plan ahead and prepare for the new arrival.
