AlphaBiolabs is proud to share that we have been awarded ISO 14001 accreditation, following a stringent assessment of our internal Environmental Management System (EMS).
The accreditation serves as recognition of our ongoing efforts to minimise our carbon footprint and demonstrates our commitment to reducing environmental impacts.
As an established laboratory with over 20 years’ experience providing DNA, drug and alcohol testing services for peace of mind, the legal profession, and the workplace sector, we are committed to maintaining the very highest quality standards.
This applies across all areas of our business, including where operations have the potential to impact upon the world around us.
What is ISO 14001?
ISO 14001 is the internationally-recognised standard for Environmental Management Systems, providing a framework by which organisations can continually improve environmental performance.
Certification demonstrates that we are taking proactive measures to minimise our environmental footprint, comply with relevant legal requirements, and achieve environmental goals.
Our EMS ensures any potential risks and opportunities are identified and sets out a robust programme of processes and procedures that will help us meet our environmental objectives – both short-term, and long-term.
As well as securing ISO 14001 accreditation, we continually strive to reduce our carbon footprint and minimise environmental impacts, by:
- Arranging multiple sample collections and outbound shipments in one trip wherever possible
- Using local providers, to minimise our supply chain emissions
- Routinely assessing our environmental impact, including use and disposal of equipment and consumables
- Using electronic processes wherever possible throughout our operations, minimising paper usage
- Using sustainable postage and packaging materials
- Reducing waste, monitoring reduction, and reducing the use of single use plastics in our laboratories
- Encouraging hybrid working and car sharing to reduce the environmental impact of commuting

We pride ourselves on remaining at the forefront of our industry, holding numerous accreditations and certifications for our laboratories and our testing methods, including ISO 14001, ISO 17025, and ISO 9001 – so you can be confident you’re in expert hands.
We are also members of the Society of Hair Testing, performing hair analysis (for drug and alcohol testing) in accordance with internationally-recognised standards, and are also listed as an accredited DNA testing provider on Treoir, the national information service for unmarried parents.
